tom cruise, church of scientology     The Church of Scientology is under scrutiny again. This is not the first time. They have been making headlines again with allegations of abuse of eBay's "VeRO" policy, which allows owners of intellectual property to basically cancel auctions where they say their rights are infringed upon.
In this matter it is still unclear as to whether their abuses of the system make them liable or if the accountability is shared with the website as well for not checking after numerous complaints about the abuse have been made.

This video shows what the Germans have to say about the new center for the CoS in their country:

Obviously there needs to be a more serious investigation. The CoS has been under scrutiny for bad practices by numerous other organizations both online and off. The Food and Drug Administration of the U.S. charged them years back for claims that they're e-meter, a piece of equipment which is supposed to be used only by ministers of their church and other higher ups for counseling purposes, would make people more healthy. The FDA had no scientific data to support this and thus could not approve it, which in the US means that no commercial product can bear this claim, whether or not it actually does what is stated.

The irony in much of this is that some of the church's beliefs hold more steadfast to what average everyday scientists believe, although it greatly extends on the theories. For instance, they believe that life came from outer space. Many scientists believe this may be true, since common theory says that much of the water we have on this planet came from collisions with asteroids, comets, etc. Some of this water, along with other elements may well be where the origins of life on this planet originated. The break off point probably occurs somewhere around the point that CoS members are taught that the E.T. was intelligent. But hey, who knows?
