G Ferraro

       And by that I mean Geraldine Ferraro. Not Hillary. Let's go over a couple things. She said something that was completely honest and accurate. Then stood by it, and wouldn't back down for the sake of politics. After I pulled myself back up off the floor from feeling woozy, like reality had split at the seams, I felt dizzy.

       If you think what she said bears a racist tone, you might be right. Not insomuch as her being a racist, but that the statement itself would lead one to believe that racism is playing a part in this campaign. Isn't it? Let's expand it to say discrimination, based on Ms. Clinton being a woman of the Caucasian persuasion. If you think that discrimination is not going to play a large part in the way people vote in the upcoming election, then I beg you to humble yourself enough to not vote in my country anymore. You're ignorance is inexcusable and intolerable.

       The real problem here is easy...

        ...people spend too much time wrapping themselves around what a bunch of profit driven media spin to them world over and then forget to look at what the real issue might be. I find two issues in this without having to look very far.

        The first issue is that there were so many people upset with Ms. Ferraro. Her statement was completely accurate. She didn't say this because she doesn't like blacks, she said it because it's true. To be honest, I'd go so far as to say it'd be true for Hillary too were she not already so well known and the wife of a former president. If you want to talk about things and get them out in the open, then stop asking politicians and their affiliates to step down for honesty's sake. If stating the obvious is grounds for alienation or dismissal of our politicians, is it any wonder why they lie to us so much?

        The second issue here is that rather than spark anger at Ms. Ferraro, how about addressing that this is in fact true and saying – is this a problem? If so, how do we fix it? Or, we could just concentrate on pointing fingers and making honest people look like clowns to discredit them for fear that the truth will in fact hurt someone in a way that maybe it should. I'm not saying the Obama campaign should suffer for this comment, but in fairness, it's definitely profiting from having not said it in the past. Barack, himself, by the way, made a completely ignorant statement, which I was very disappointed to have read;

                "I think that her comments were ridiculous. I think they were wrong-headed," he said. "The notion that it is a great advantage to me to be an African-American named Barack Obama and pursue the presidency, I think, is not a view that has been commonly shared by the general public."

        Well, I'm the public, and it's a view I hold. I bet I could easily find at least a million black people nationwide who will be voting for Barack, who otherwise wouldn't have a clue who he was were he not who he is. By that I mean a black man named Barack Obama. If he were a white guy named Joseph Guilderguttonmach would he have made it near this far? I highly doubt Mr. Obama is so ignorant that he even believes his own statement here. Rather I think he is just being defensive. It makes me think that as much as Carl Rove scared me, the Dems ought to be taking a clue and maybe picking up that George Lakoff study guide - “Don't Think of an Elephant”.

        So where we're at now is Ms. Ferraro stepping out of the position of aiding Ms. Clinton so that she can stand her ground without damaging the Clinton Campaign. I understand the reality of this, really I do. I might not agree with it, but it does leave open too many opportunities for holes if she does not. I would like to say that I support her in standing up for herself. In having the courage not to be a spineless, sleazy, dishonest political affiliate. It makes me wonder why she's not running for president.
