The value of gold, silver and oil really haven't changed much relative to each other over the last 50 years, have they? It's just that the value of the fiat US Dollar has fallen.

Does it really matter if we buy sandwiches with US Dollars or Amero's?

Except, of course, that I only have US Dollars in my bank account. Who gets to decide who gets all the new currency when our old US Dollars are worthless?

What if you could just have privatized currency as long as you had a noble standard to back it up? Who knows how much gold is in any one place to begin with? What if th guys who own the banks just took their gold deposits and walked around to the front entrance with them (so to speak) and cashed them in as their own?
This is why, as much as I want to invest in this or that, buy something or sell something, I always tell my children that money isn't real.
